Erb, Hagedorn and Sanders Compete in All-Star Meet
Four recent graduates of
Carlisle High School and members of the boys’ track and field squad were
nominated and chosen to compete in the Senior Spotlight All-Start Meet for Team
Iowa. Team Iowa competed against all-star squads from Illinois and Wisconsin in
Dubuque on Saturday, June 13th.
Andrew Smith was unable to participate but the Wildcats were represented
in great fashion by Tyrell Erb, Henry Sanders, and Josh Hagedorn.
Sanders had a great day on the track as he ran the third leg of the 4x200m relay squad that finished third in 1:30.93. Sanders also led off the 4x400m relay squad for Team Iowa in a blistering 49.2 split. Sanders teamed with fellow classmate Erb, Brent Prenger (the Class 1A 400m state champ from Lawton-Bronson), and Nic Scheelhasse (the Class 2A 800m state champ from Woodbury Central-Kingsley Pierson) to finish 2nd in 3:18.20. This was Team Iowa’s third fastest 4x400m relay time since the Senior Spotlight All-Star Meet was started 16 years ago.
Because of that great depth and talent on the Team Iowa squad, they were able to run two relay teams in each event. Erb also ran on the fourth place 4x200m relay team that finished in 1:32.94. Recent graduate Josh Hagedorn finished 16th in the 110m high hurdles in 16.16 and also ran on the 4th place 4x110m Shuttle Hurdle (high hurdles) Relay that finished in 1:02.18. Final results can be found here: http://www.iatfcc.org/images/stories/tfallstar/15srallstarspot.pdf
Quotes from the competing athletes:
“It was a lot of fun competing with the best competition not only from our state but from Wisconsin and Illinois as well. It was a great experience and I think everyone enjoyed it.” –Josh Hagedorn
“Being able to compete in the Senior Spotlight All-Star Meet was an awesome experience. Getting to know and compete with some of the other top athletes in Iowa was something I’ll never forget.” –Henry Sanders
“It was such a great experience being able to compete for Team Iowa. I was able to meet a lot of seniors with the same passions towards track and field that I have. I made friends and memories that will last a lifetime.” –Tyrell Erb
